A friend wrote a letter to me recently complaining that his new place is so decayed and porous that he can smell the kitchen bin from every room. And hear the fridge as he walks out the front door.
Our fridge doesn't hum, it hisses - so I am always checking to see if someone has left the gas on. Also, I have a reoccurring dream where the fridge falls on me, and lands door-side down and I suffocate amongst the condiments. In short, I think the fridge is the most menacing of all the appliances. Followed by possibly the jaffle-iron, or the ceiling fan.
