I'm of course spending time trying to acquire the local language here, and it is a challenge considering I've never really applied myself to such learning. As my efforts are mostly self study, I occasionally consult Bablefish to conifrm if I'm heading in the right direction. Here is an example of how far i have to go...

(p.s. I'm not sure what moveable type is like with th japanese character sets - you might also need to adjust your browser's text encoding to accomodate "Shift JIS", or something of that ilk).

WHAT I WANTED TO SAY...
I am learning Japanese slowly, but I want to study more.

AND MY TRANSLATION...
ã?«ã?»ã‚“ã?”をゆã?£ã??りã?—ã‚…ã?†ã?¨ã??ã?™ã‚‹ã?§ã‚‚ã‚‚ã?¨ã?¹ã‚“ã??ょã?†ã?—ã?Ÿã?„

AND HOW BABELFISH INTERPRETED IT.
Even when Japan it makes the palpus uninformed slowly being, fly it is today we would like to do

I noticed a few mistakes afterwards though. Inputting the kanji got results that actually had some resemblance to what I wanted to say.

After inputting the English sentence for translation, I got the real thang.
ç§?ã?¯æ—¥æœ¬èªžã‚’ゆã?£ã??り学んã?§ã?„ã‚‹ã?Œã€?多ã??を調査ã?—ã?Ÿã?„ã?¨æ€?ã?†

Yes, study harder Richard.
