Green Laundering

If marketing directors know what sells,
then this has to be a good sign? Right?

By using an acute green wash to sell a drink, they're telling me that green is a powerful message, one that gets attention and one that has gone from the hippy domain to the bogans.

However, I may not be so amused...
It cheapens a really important message, besides the sense of 'using' it for profit. It also suggests that it may be a fad if it can be used as a pitch. Advertising for the mainstream always uses what is the most ephemeral and trendy. It therefore says that 'green' is truly part of the zeitgeist. And a zeigeist will change...

So my concern is that if the green theme can be used inaccurately so as to actually result in someone buying a completely unrelated product, how can it truly be a green revolution?

Let's hope that green isn't a phase to just be used by advertising agencies to shift shit.

Moving House

not_dusty_spaces

Moving house shows you things that you wouldn't see otherwise, lost treasures under chairs, unopened boxes from the last move and things like the shapes left on shelves once the bottles are taken away.

Some people take breaks for a smoko
I take it for a photo

Some think that I'm slacking
telling me to get packing

But the art needs to be recorded
before it's washed, boxed and stored... ed...

My first wedding

As a photographer.

After spending a lifetime refusing to do weddings, I finally succumbed to my friends Stu and Sam who got married this weekend in Wollongong. And mostly because they let me shoot it 'my way'.
Here are some of my less traditional shots of a colourful and gale force day.

Woodland Fairy

It is a rare opportunity to be whatever you want to be for a night. And a woodland fairy is it for me.
So I rode my bicycle around the block and collected jasmine, peppermint tree branches and twigs. I weaved them together on my bed before fluttering into the crowd.
That there is my gorgeous friend Narelle. She was dotty.

Oscar and I crashed a photoshoot for my friend Narelle.
(He is a true photographer's pup - knows how to pose now)

Narelle is about to hold her first art exhibition!
It's opening this Friday, 6pm at MinniMon on William St Northbridge. Come down or visit before December 5.

Oscar is going to feature on some postcards for sale.
