My travelling shredded paper

shredded_paper1b.jpg

It's not often that you receive a bag of shredded paper that you realise after several finger-dips is actually only full of shredded paper.
There was, however, a less shredded piece of paper with a note from my freedom & pizza buddy, Ilka. She wrote "These bits wanted to meet you and have their photo taken - They are aesthetic to boot and look good in a pile."

Once I dissolved my disappointment of finding no gift beyond the gift itself, I set about taking my new best bag of shredded paper with me to be photographed in the context of my daily life.

This is an ongoing stupidity, so you can look forward to further chapters in the life and times of Nat and her bag of shredded paper.

Wow... you brought it to Soto? LOL...How do you even begin to ask to take a picture there? Interesting. Very interesting

The technique is to not explain what you are doing before you do it. "I'm just taking a photo - I'll clean up afterwards."
Let them watch and be too shy to question such an obscure art installation.

And isn't so much art just like that!

Hey; there's my lair! You took it right in the corner by the chair where no one at the counter could see, but did you know we have webcams trained on that very spot?! You might have noticed I'm not there at the moment, I have absconded to the hills on a residency for a while. It's cold and bright and a little bit too quiet so if you ever feel like an excursion, come visit. Otherwise let's have coffee on my return? I miss our coffees. xx.

More please. But how long before the integrity of the paper is comprimised and you start sweeping dust balls from the floor of Planet into the bag? Or is that all part of it, taking pieces of former visits with you? Or am I thinking about it far too much?

You can never think too much around me Miss Isabelle.
I think the slow disintegration of the paper is a part of the art installation/documentation.
There is a beautiful exchange going on - leaving a few paper remnants behind, and picking up little dust mites and grey colour.
Perhaps I should keep going until my pile is more dust than paper...

aaaachoooo! x

I love it - as I love your blog and adventures. Thanks for keeping my mind full of inspiration and illustration! It's great seeing blogs of my town too, and the excited "eep" inside of "I know where that photo is shot from!!" =)
